At Qatar Academy Doha, sustainability is a core value embedded into our everyday practices. At QAD, we believe in nurturing responsible
global citizens who are not only academically adept but also environmentally conscious.
We have integrated the Education for Sustainability (EFS) Standards into our curriculum, ensuring that students learn about the importance of
environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic prosperity from an early age. Through interdisciplinary learning experiences, our
students explore real-world issues and develop innovative solutions to create a more sustainable future.
QAD has been recognized for its dedication to sustainability with accreditation as an Eco School. In 2021, we proudly earned our first Green
Flag, a testament to our efforts in promoting environmental sustainability within our school community. We are currently in the final stages
of applying for our second Green Flag, a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and environmental
excellence.
As a Green Flag-awarded Eco School, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint through various initiatives. At QAD, our school grounds
are not just a space for learning—they’re a thriving ecosystem where students engage in hands-on experiences that promote sustainability.
Within our Green Lab, students take an active role in planting and nurturing their own vegetables and food sources. Within our Quranic
Garden, students have the unique opportunity to cultivate and care for plants mentioned in the Holy Quran, fostering a deeper connection to
their identity through Islam. Engaging in these organic gardening projects not only teaches valuable lessons about food production,
environmental stewardship, and healthy living but also instills a sense of deep respect and admiration for the natural world, as described in
Islamic teachings. In addition, QAD prioritizes composting initiatives, turning organic waste into nutrient-rich soil to support our gardens.
This active inquiry into sustainable practices encourages students to explore the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the importance of
responsible resource management.
At QAD, sustainability is woven into the fabric of our school culture, with students, staff, and the larger QF Community working
collaboratively to foster a sense of environmental responsibility. We empower individuals to make informed choices that positively impact the
environment through eco-awareness campaigns, sustainability workshops, and community outreach initiatives.
At QAD, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s a way of life.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead
